A Beautiful Mind
This movie is considered one of the best in Ron Howard’s career as a director. A Beautiful Mind starring Russel Crowe and Jennifer Connelly is a story of a gifted but asocial Mathematician John Nash whose life changes horrendously when he accepts secret work in cryptography. With stellar performances from the star cast like Russel Crowe, the movie is an absolute must-watch.
The Da Vinci Code
Who can forget The Da Vinci Code. The movie is another masterpiece created by Ron Howard who adapted the story for this movie from Robert Langdon novel of the same name by Dan Brown. The movie tells the story of professor Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) who is on a mission to find the mystery of Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous painting after a cryptic murder in Louvre Paris museum.
On his journey, he is faced with many enemies who are also trying to discover the cryptic message that hides the 2,000 year old secret surrounding the foundation of Christianity.
Apollo 13
Based on a true story, the film tells the story of Apollo 13 lunar missions led by Jim Lovell (Tom Hanks), Fred Haise (Bill Paxton) and Jack Swigert (Kevin Bacon). While the flight succeeds when take-off, it raises tension when their oxygen tank malfunctions, and they must call off their mission. The pressure brews further when the situation on the spaceship worsens with other technical malfunctions, making their survival and landing on Earth murkier.
Ransom
The movie is one of the best thriller dramas created by Ron Howard with the star cast of Mel Gibson, Rene Russo, and Gary Sinise. The movie tells the story of struggle of a desperate father (Mel Gibson) who is hell bent on getting his kidnapped son. Ron Howard brings out the best emotions of a desperate father in Mel Gibson through his direction. The movie is an a real seat-grabbing thriller and is an absolute-must watch.
Grand Theft Auto
Grand Theft Auto, Howard’s first directorial debut, is one of the classiest comedy films of the 1970s. The movie became an instant hit and grossed around $15 million on a budget of $ 600,000. Ron Howard plays the lead.
The film tells the story of a rich girl whose parents are against their daughter’s decision to marry the boy of her choice. Frustrated, the girl steals her father’s Rolls Royce and heads to Las Vegas along with her boyfriend to get married. To thwart her plans, many people get in on the chase, the girl’s parents, her jealous suitor, and a bunch of reward seekers. The chase from Los Angeles to Las Vegas creates hilarious chaos along the way and is fun to watch.
