5 movies you didn’t know were based on true events

While many believe that the success of these great Hollywood movies like Saving Private Ryan, The Social Network, and The Wolf of Wall Street is the film’s ensemble cast and crew, the truth is it is not all that. It is the remarkable true story that interests the audience to see and listen to it.

With that said, here is the list of these successful movies many didn’t knew but is based on true events.

The movie has an ensemble of cast of Benedict Cumberbatch, Joel Edgerton, Dakota Johnson, and Johnny Depp, who plays the role of the infamous gangster.

Just like the title of the movie, this mystery/drama movie is based on the extraordinary true story of the former New York Times journalist Michael Finkel, who interviewed a murder victim named Cristian Longo, who was accused of murdering his own family and had assumed the identity of Finkel to evade arrest.

The pair of Jonah Hill and James Franco who portrays the character of Finkel and Longo respectively, definitely makes the movie a seat grabber.

The movie is a remarkable true story of Late Olympian runner Louis “Louie” Zamperini’s life, portrayed by Jack O’Donnell. The story follows his life as a troubled kid, going to the Olympics, enlisting for the US army during WWII, his extraordinary survival at sea, and survival in the Japanese POW camp, where he was a favourite target of a cruel prison commander.

With her directorial debut, Angelina Jolie has done an excellent job. For a person who is facing tough time in his life currently, Unbroken is a must watch and gives an incredibly good message: Never lose hope and give your best!

One of the best thriller drama movie Argo is an academy winning movie which is based on the true events of Nov 4, 1979, when Iranian militants took control over the American embassy in Tehran and took 66 Americans hostage. Among these chaos six of them managed to escape from the militants and took refuge at Canadian ambassador’s home.

Furthermore, the time is ticking, and the CIA is desperately trying to plan their rescue before the desperate Iranian militants get to the American diplomats before them. The film has a stellar cast with Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Bryan Cranston, and, of course, the director and lead character in the movie, Ben Affleck, playing the role of Tony Mendez, the CIA extractor.

The film mostly follows the plot quite thoroughly, except for the ending rescue scene, in which they add a slight amount of action/drama to entertain the audience. Other than that, the movie is a great watch and is definitely a seat grabber.

The film highlights the situation in Iran after the overthrow of the Pro-American Shah during the 1979 Iranian Revolution and the greatest diplomatic collaboration between the two strongest allies, Canada and the US, in desperate times.
